One of the senior still photographers of Kannada cinema Kengeri Basavaraj breathed his last at his residence on account of cancer. A month ago Kenge Basavaraj was brought to the hospital and it was at advanced stage of cancer.

Aged 45 years Kengeri Basavaraj was very jovial and humble. He began his career from ‘Nadha Surabhi’ Kannada cinema and worked for more than 75 films. His last film was ‘Ambara’. He worked for banners of Rockline Venkatesh, Soorappa Babu and others.

Producer Soorappa Babu in Chennai for finalization of his new film expressed grief at the demise of Kengeri Basavaraj. He was always with ‘Jarda and Beeda’ but in his work he was terrific. From Tharle Nan Maklu to Dashamukha he has been a permanent still photographer for my banner recalled Babu.

What is disgusting is that the second person from ‘Ambara’ team to die even before film release. Earlier in the Ganga River assistant Sadashivaiah was drowned and now the same film still photographer Kengeri Basavaraj also breathed his last
